Jesus, will you prove the power inside?
Luke chap: 4
Jesus after fasting 40 days, by the leading of the Holy Spirit, is taken by the Satan and tested. Jesus was hungry. (Let me interject here, it seems to say that he was not hungry during the fast…. Wow, I want that kind of fast right?!)
But now he is hungry– and probably weak…and Satan takes this opportunity to test Jesus.
Satan: Jesus, are you really the son of God? Is what the Father told you true? If it is then turn that rock into a loaf of bread and feed yourself, oh son of God…
Jesus: “It is written that man shall not live by bread alone but by every word God.”
What just happened? Well a few things. Jesus was called out. Many of us feel that drive as well. Lets bring in an example of something more common to the church today. Are you “saved” and filled with the Holy Spirit? Why then when God has called you to pray for healing do people not get healed? Aren’t you filled with the power of the living God? Are you not a Child of God, shouldn’t signs and wonders follow you?
See what is being stirred here is not the lack or misapplication of God’s power, but the enticing of you to stoke your own pride and secure your identity. God Has called those who are lead by the Spirit his Sons. (rom 8:14) So if god said it, it does not matter what the devil or anyone else says, it matters what he said.
Let’s not be fooled. Pride separates us from God. Jesus knew who he was and his response was to kill pride, and to bring it back to the truth. Because Truth is what God says.
